Latest reviews for CAMPING LES PLAGES DE L'AIN
The many positive reviews drew me to this campsite. Indeed a friendly owner but the toilets and showers were outdated (not such an issue) and not very clean (an issue, especially in Covid times). During my stay (1 night) have not observed any cleaning activities, all soap dispensers empty as well. When attempting to leave the campsite the automatic gate did not open and with reception closed and the phone going to voicemail (reciting the opening times of the reception) the feeling of not being able to leave wasn't a nice one.Location on the riverbank is nice so let's hope the other, more positive, reviews paint a more realistic picture.
Whatever anyone else says we loved it here . The plots are large shady and level , the toilet block is basic but clean and all works perfectly. There is a lovely open air pool with fresh cool water and sunbeds. The walk through to the river is amazing . As a couple who swim in fresh water rivers and lakes at every opportunity you cannot get better than the Ain it’s clean fast flowing ( in parts) and has great stone beaches at the side I wish I had brought our canoe. The owner Jean Luc was very welcoming and funny and his young Assistant on security was so helpful and friendly.I think it’s one of the best 2 day stopovers we have had and we spend 3 to 4 months a year in the Motorhome.Well done
It was a wonderful place and we definitely want to visit this place again. Everybody there was very very friendly and we had a great familiar feeling. The kids loved it and learned their first french words.Food was good, kids loved the Pizza. Thanks for the good idea to visit Les Grottes de La Balme. Was an unforgetable experience. Good for rainy weather.True, the sanitary infrastructure is not the best - this is why 4 stars only.We can't wait to see it modernized - then 5 stars!! =)
Very helpful campsite owners. Made arrangements with local contacts. Very pleasant campsite, next to a lovely stretch of river.
Who knows, maybe this is a lovely campsite but we never got to stay there. We found the owner to be unfriendly and at €38 for 2 small tents and 2 people, we felt this was rather expensive. When the owner refused to accept a credit card payment on the grounds it was too late in the evening, we made our apologies and left.
