Latest reviews for CAMPING DU VAL SAINT JEAN
First the good points…The staff were extremely nice and keen to help, perhaps with the exception of the manager who was a little abrasive in his manner. The pitches are large with plenty of natural shade on most. We found most pitches were sloping. The sanitaire we used (appeared to be quite new) and was very clean, but had several issues. Now the poor points …Did we really need to have loud music playing to a virtually empty campsite on a Saturday night and Sunday afternoon? There is far too much water wastage when trying to get hot water to the showers, wash basins, laundry and washing up areas. This is particularly noticeable when the sanitaire hasn't been used for some time during the day. It took 5-10 minutes of running water down the drain before any hot water was delivered. A ridiculous waste of a precious resource and not at all necessary with modern plumbing techniques. There were no squeegees to enable shower floors to be cleaned after use.Sanitiser gel dispensers were empty. It is more hygienic to have no hand cleansing gel at all than empty dispensers contaminated by people wishing to use them and finding they are empty. No toilet rolls in the toilets, I accept that, but when I'm in the toilet where am I meant to place my toilet roll? On the toilet floor? I really don't think so.€23/night and no toilet roll!?!? Why, does that really break into your profits? We went to use the vidoir as signposted to empty our chemical toilet cassette only to find no running water and a bin bag full of empty paint tins. There are heaters blowing hot air into the sanitaire when the temperature outside is 25+°C!! If they are not heaters, they are doing nothing to cool the very large area. Why were they on?On arrival we asked about the availability of bread only to be told there were boulangers in the town 2km away. No offer to provide us bread and no consideration to those without alternative transport, that they would have to break camp and drive into town to buy bread. Fortunately we had bikes.I note from earlier comments that the campsite has changed ownership, is that why there have been NO REPLIES to guests comments for well over a year.Has the manager read any of the comments and acted upon them? Does he know how to run a business?Has the manager ever tried to have a shower first thing to appreciate how much water he is wasting every day?How long before I can read a response from the manager to this comment and the many others that guests, who spent hard earned money to stay here, have taken the trouble to write?
On the positive side the site was well set out with plenty of places to pitch in the shade. The facilities were spotlessly clean and plentiful and the pool was a bonus on a very hot day. However we encountered problems re pitch allocation we were given 17 but it was taken when we got there. We went back to reception and picked 15, left our bags and bikes went for a swim came back and found a car and large tent on the pitch so we had to choose again. Very frustrating when we had cycled all day and were quite tired! The pool was very busy as expected due to the heat but there were only 20 sun beds and approx 70 people so we had to lie on the floor. All this for 2 people on bikes no electric 44 euros !!! Ridiculous and no toilet paper or soap. The night before we had everything for 10 euro !!!!
This is a lovely clean well kept site with all new facilities. The management are extremely friendly helpful and accommodating. We arrived without booking on the 29th July and were able to stay for 14 nights with the owner managing to find excellent pitches for our 9mtr Campervan.
A lovely campsite well laid out. Excellent swimming pool
