Latest reviews for CAMPING LA FERME DE CLAREAU
This is a very special place, a hidden gem. Campsite is located on a hill, pitches are spread over multiple parts of the hill with lots of space in between (eg 25-50 meters). All pitches are beautifully located in a natural setting, some with fantastic panoramic view on the surroundings.Very friendly host (Christine) who gives everyone a warm welcome and time & care when needed.Sanitary is basic but well maintained & clean. On top of the hill is the reception with a swimming pool with panoramic view and a small terrace where you can have a drink or icecream. At the bottom of the hill is a small river where the kids can swim, play with the rocks, build a dam.Calm in the evening, no entertainment, besides a shared bbq now & then to get to know the other guests. It is a perfect place to enjoy the holidays, the only thing to add to make it even more perfect would be a small restaurant serving local cuisine near the reception (or a foodtruck or so visiting now & then). Please note - to go from bottom of the hill to reception includes some steep parts is a 5-10 min walk , so not the best for people with mobility problems. Saw some reviews about a small road to the campsite but it is no problem to get there with a camper or caravan, there’s a small bridge at the entrance but well doable with our 7,5m campervan.
We had the best stay at this very special campsite run by the wonderful Christine. It was everything I dream a campsite can be. Enormous pitches, under the walnut trees, fabulous setting 360 degree views and to top it all Christine who gives everyon so much time and care.
Very very good camping. In the nature, amount of spots are very limited. Other camp site would make 5 spots on one spot on this camping. Shower and toilets can be a bit far, but clean. River on the camping. Pool is good. Nice area for walking. Possible to buy bread on the camping. Reception can be slow.
We would (and hopefully will) come back! A huge farm which splits up the camping areas into zones, so that each cluster of tents, around a wash block, feels rather like a mini camp-site of its own. The pool looks good but with the river so close, we stuck with that! Lots of great walks from the campsite (buy a map, and ask at the tourism office in La Motte Chalancon for the set of local walks).
A beautiful camping site in a very good spot. Very roomy and kept by the nicest people in France.
