Latest reviews for CAMPING MER DE GLACE
The campground has the bones to be excellent. The pitches are all different sizes and set in the forest so nice atmosphere. The helipad however is right next door, so lots of noise from this. I wanted to rate this place much higher but the reception was unbelievably rude. There is no need, we get it that it is busy, but it is never okay to be this rude. It’s also super expensive, it is August and Chamonix, but for a place that centres itself around hiking there should be a price for this. 36 euro for small hiking tent and 2 people. The showers were never hot which was pretty annoying, but always pretty clean, and the charging room was excellent. It’s abit of walk into town but the surroundings are beautiful and what’s another 2KM when you’ve already done 30 for the day? 😂
This campsite is in decent location. Tuck in the forest so we thought it is a nice location to rest. However it is loud. Helicopter flies over all afternoon and it is just so loud. Can’t remember exactly how much but it was around 30-35 euro for one tent with 2 people.Bathroom has a weird set up and the toilet paper is outside. So you have to make sure take it before you go in.It has shower and food truck as well.
Gorgeous place with a great atmosphere. Charging room available for your devices, seating areas, large number of facilities and very very quiet at night, just the sounds of nature. Would not hesitate to stay again, in fact we're already planning another road trip and would definitely make it a feature to bring family to this place.
A campsite situated in the forest just outside Chamonix, a couple of kilometers to the town centre. The service fascilities are of some age, though well maintained. Lot's of treas on the camp, making a lot of shade. The mountain tops surrounding the camp are impressive, though. There's a small bar/cafe at the camp. Nearest "shop" is a small kiosk approximately one kilometer from the camp. Almost every day there's street food served at the campsite. A very nice feature, and also popular, by the looks of it.
Very rude reception guy, my partner who speak French went in to see if there was still pitch available for tent as we saw some pitch is free from the entrance , the reception guy told him, "Don't you know how to read?"Well, we understand there are many tourists in chamonix in August, but there is no need to be rude.Do not recommend staying here in August.
