CAMPING KOAWA LE CHÂTEAU DE ROCHETAILLEE

Great team, very accommodating. Very warm welcome.The location is very good, just between Bourg d'Oisans and Allemond.The camping is well equipped and calm. My main concern is that some of the equipment is ageing and the maintenance may be improved.

We spent two nights with our tent in this camping and our experience was overall satisfying. The place is very green and pleasant and the owners were very nice and helpful. We also appreciated the swimming pool, that was very clean and where our kids had a lot of fun. There are some elements that can be better, for example there is some maintenance to be done on some emplacements and on the kids playground, but the owners just took the structure one month ago. We recommend the place.

We stayed here in a new mobile home, which was in great condition and very clean, though the double bed didn’t have fitted sheets and instead I was given 2 single fitted sheets which obviously didn’t fit so we had to make do. The reception staff were mostly disinterested in any customer service and seemed irritated at any request. The washing machine didn’t work and I was told to deal with the company directly (I mean that seems ridiculous to me) - I washed elsewhere. In any event in which I needed assistance I was redirected to someone else as it wasn’t their job, this was largely the attitude I was met with. In general the campsite is in disrepair and not well maintained. The surroundings are amazing and it could really be an amazing campsite if it were cared for. Pitches seem nice and large but the sanitarie was terrible and I was glad not to have to use them. SomeIf the swimming pools was not working and also seemed old and not in great condition. We were happy to be in the area and loved the mountains but the service and general attitude of staff means we wouldn’t return or recommend.

Great place to stay. Lovely staff, good atmosphere and good pitches.However we were initially put on pitch 5!! (Avoid it)It’s no more than a dumping ground which the company later admitted once I complained. Even the staff at the site said it wasn’t suitable but told us the booking company had put us there and used it. 🤷‍♂️They moved us the next day once we asked to move and said it should t have happened 👍Email complaint was disappointing as I wanted a full refund even as they had admitted it should have been cleared but wasn’t! They only offered €20 refund which was poor as it was not what we paid for.I’m short the staff there were great and the place is lovely and good to base yourself. The back room (customer service) staff are not so great. The complaint is ongoing but I doubt I’ll ever hear back 🤷‍♂️It wouldn’t stop us staying again though, just avoid pitch 5! 😉👍

Update - After coming across many more positive reviews over the summer and not being ready to leave France, combined with a 50% discount offer on mobile homes, we decided to return and give it another chance due to its previous reputation. We booked a mobile home for a week at the end of July 2023 and arrived from another campsite at the base of Alpe D'Huez. Honestly, it's much better this year. The caretaker now has her husband alongside her, and their efforts to make guests happier and restore the campsite to its former condition are truly admirable. There are still numerous issues, including worn-down equipment, buildings, and the swimming pool area. However, based solely on their efforts, the caretaker and her husband would receive a perfect 5/5 rating from me. I sincerely hope they succeed in bringing the site back to its former glory; it unquestionably requires hard work and significant investment from the owners (Koawa Corporation, which owns several campsites). If they do succeed, I will be the first to make a reservation.*********************Stayed in July 2022Sad sad condition of a once great camping site. The camp sit is really in a bad state, weeds all over, do not look kept, or maintained anymore. We were here latest in 2019 on a pitch and it was great! Now the staff is uninterested in servicing the guests, we booked the brand new mobile home with spa, but dishwasher is not working, nor are some of the lights. We asked them to change a lightbulb, but here on day 6/7, they still havent done so! Zero sevice. I am not one to write reviews, but felt compelled to do so. We will return to the area, but will move to the RCN camp site across the road!
