We have visited many years ago on our motorbike with friends and on our own .This year went via motorhome and the place has changed alot. It has lovely piches , all quite large and some hardstanding. Weather being so wet, it was a bonus. The facilities extremely good, with heating in one particular bit. Lots of wooden lodges to rent, as well as tents.Water taps close to pitches. The swimming pool next to site included in fee I believe. The site manager has a great interest in the nature and flora and fauna, which shows in the site, with lovely trees and hedges. It is situated next to the river, which has a footpath into town .Lots of walks and museums to visit. Especially the cheese museum and the local cheese to purchase there. Also the old trains and various trips to take on them.Well worth a visit .
We turned up just when the office had closed, the site manager very kindly opened up and allowed us on for the night. The facilities were modern and clean.
Large campsite on the outskirts of town, opposite Carrefour Market and a DIY shop.Staff were friendly and helpful. The booking process is a bit peculiar - you have to request a slot, then get it confirmed, then fill in a form with the same information as the request and pay a deposit. At which point the website crashes. Then you get an email saying that your payment is waiting - apparently it has actually been received at this point.Quite when we're were there early May - four or five campervans and a few of the huts in use. Unfortunately we were all squeezed into the same section of the site.Pitches are grass. Electricity by 16A socket. Ours was wired up backwards, so take a reversing adapter. There are water taps on each row, 3 out of 4 threaded for hose attachment.Vehicle access is by keyfob available from reception. The site itself is next to a main road. Whilst notionally this is a 50 kph limit it's a long straight road and used - noisily - as a racetrack by the locals. The site is also just of the flight path from the local airfield, but you can't hear the aeroplanes over the road noise. In general there's a sense of, not quite menace but more unease about the area, particularly walking back from the town centre at night. It's about a half hour walk into town for restaurants. There are three toilet blocks. Two were in use for our stay. The nearest is a strange design; unisex but with only two cubicles (plus a disabled) and multiple urinals. Almost as though it was designed for men but made unisex as an afterthought. Also means few options when the inconsiderate campers urinate all over the cubicle (having first urinated all over the adjacent pitch). The washing up and laundry sinks are in the same room. There is a soap dispenser.Next door is the shower and sink room. Whoever thought that encasing the whole thing in a giant greenhouse was a good idea has clearly never experienced a French summer. Large cockroach like insects are attracted by the light at night and do your morning shower starts by sweeping them out.Lots of play areas and, of course, there's the swimming pool next door.
Good clean municipal site, with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Pool next door a bonus in the heat, but an issue if your pitch is close to the side with the pool as the pumps are noisy and run almost constantly through the night.
Peaceful site in June. Good sized level pitches with mature trees giving some shade. Sanitary facilities fairly basic but clean. Very helpful staff in reception. Pleasant walk into town along riverbank. Choice of supermarkets just a short walk from the site.
