CAMPING DE MONTLOUIS-SUR-LOIRE

Friendly staff, nice site. Toilets clean and showers nice and hot. Handy to cycle into Tours although we didn't due to heavy rain. One thing that lets it down is the motorhome service area : small grate to try to get your grey waste down and the chimique is some weird pipe with a cap that doesn't fit you aim to get your cassette pipe down. Whole area muddy from, you really really hope, the rain and nothing worse. Come on campsite, you can and should do better than that...

Fantastic campsite, very clean and staff are super friendly and helpful. Toilet facilities are excellent. I would recommend the zooparc de Beauval which is about a 50 minute drive from the campsite, incredible. Canoe rental over the river about 15 minute walk away also excellent. Swimming pool next to the campsite is free to use with the wrist bands you are given from reception but beware, no swimming shorts allowed, pack your trunks.

This campsite was a convenient location to stop at on our bike journey soon the Loire, being between Tours and Amboise. It’s loosely in Montlouis-sur-Loire but is alongside the busy road and industrial estate rather than in the beautiful village or vineyards, which meant that it was occasionally noisy, though not intrusively-so. The facilities were plentiful and clean with really spacious showers, there is a food truck on site and a communal room for walkers and cyclists which has a pool table, kettle, microwave, table and sofa, which are all very welcome when travelling light. The down sides: the area reserved for slow travelers was a little shabby, with untidy grass (I know, interesting concept, but things like smaller fallen branches and the like suggest it didn’t get maintained every day), very rickety picnic benches and water points which didn’t work just left it feeling a little sub-par.

Good camping spot near the local railway station and the Loire (bicycle trails just in front the camping area) . The swimming pool is a public swimming area just 2 minutes away.Toilets etc are ok (enough cabins for the amount of people) and were cleaned up several times a day.

Municipal campsite, with relaxed, experienced staff and good range of facilities. Hedged or orchard-style pitches for tents. It is a bit isolated thougb it’s possible to walk to Montlouis and its station. Other local towns and local restaurants and bars (there are good places on a nearby industrial estate!) are too far really. Food trucks visit some evenings. Loos n showers are fine.
