Latest reviews for LE CAMP DES ROSES - MR LUCAS PATRICK
Worst campsite we've come across on our European road trip. The pitch itself was large and nicely maintained, but sadly that's where the good bits end. Let me be specific. The good reviews are mostly from the people staying in the cabins and static caravans. I stayed on a pitch in a campervan.Probably one of the more expensive campsites, we paid by card and was then asked if we wanted to buy shower tokens. €1.70 for a shower token, but we couldn't use our card for some reason. So we had to drive around for another hour trying to find a cash machine to withdraw money. The toilet blocks themselves are modern and clean, but none of the 4 showers on site have hot water. The token lasts about 2 minutes and then your €1.70 shower is over. The toilet have no toilet paper in the (bring your own?), no hand driers or paper towels and the soap dispensers are empty.
We were there with tent. Not the biggest camping place for you, but easily fits 2 tents and a car. Swimming pool is deep and not the biggest, lots of rules what not to do in it. Sanitair is new, but you need to pay for the shower .
Stayed one night on way back to Calais. Very quiet and clean. Tokens for showers but they were hot and you got lots of time. Nice hedges between pitches so felt very private. The owners were friendly. Highly recommended. We would stay for longer another time.Visited Bethune - lovely square with cafes and restaurants.
Absolutely cannot recommend this campsite.I arrived with my kids and camped in tents for three nights. You are put between the regular chalets, which occupy most of the site. I would have liked to be next to other campers. I got a very muddy spot, not very nice when you are in a tent, while there were still a lot of nice grass spots empty. One family that wanted to stay next to each other where put on very separate spots, while there where enough spots open, I'd say at most 1/3 was occupied. The sanitary is old albeit clean, the shower has to be paid for and appeared very cold. The pool water is also quite cold, not much is allowed in the pool, and this was very strictly looked upon.
Convenient site en route to the ferry at calais, facilities clean , pay for showers but plenty of hot water. €25 deposit for the key fob for barrier but you should take it as you can't get out without it ,we had to wait until reception opened over an hour later than stated at 9.15 ,bit of a problem if you've got a early ferry
