Latest reviews for CAMPING LA CANADIENNE
We stayed in our motorhome for 1 week. Lots of good sized pitches with electricity dotted around static homes. They are quite sandy so you need a good ground sheet and mat for getting in van.Pool lovely and warm. Toilets (4 +kiddy one) multiple showers and washing facilities. 2 washing machines (€5) 1 dryer (€4) and ironing board. Also hairdryer.Children play area and pool.Beach is 1.5 mile walk. There's several restaurants and a couple of shops. The receptionist Patricia needs a special mention. She is extremely helpful and cheery. They sell bread for €1 in the morning.
Ares is a pretty town, however the camping site fails to live up to the descriptions, some of the staff are helpful, but others in reception are downright rude and obnoxious, my daughter desperately needed the toilets but due to a water outage the toilets were locked, only when i insisted was it arranged that she could go to toilet. In 50 years of camping this is only the first time this has happened, no forward planning by the camping site team. The pitches are devoid of grass, made up of dirty black cigarette butt sand, I had to wash my tents to remove the filth from your site, price per night, up to 6 p 25€ with electric, what’s cheap if the site good, it needs major remedial works to bring up to 4 star standard. Also to point out it states at the entry barrier that site access is closed at 23 h it is not and any drunk or dog can wander on to site and interfere with bikes and vehicles, i interrupted a would be thief in the process of trying to steal two of our bikes. Avoid
Having been to Arès for 27 years camping at another campsite we always knew this would be difficult as we knew feedback from previous friends who had either stayed or visited La Canadienne. Previous campsite before closing in 2021 was immaculate and colourful.Unfortunately La Canadienne lived up to all expectations, extremely tired and in desperate need of a major overhaul!!
We enjoyed our stay even thou we were next to the swimming pool it was quiet. Snack bar was not open even thou it was June when we stayed. Everywhere clean.
The ground of our plot was completely made up of forest soil, aka dirt. This meant that at the first rain everything got covered in dirt that spat up.Mosquitos everywhere, even while just sitting outside they get you.Private sanitary was okay, public sanitary looked a lot better. The swimming pool isn't that big and could only be used to cool off during a hot day.The facilities on the campsite are good, lots to do for kids. The campsite is covered in trees which can make the already tight spots feel even tighter. During warm days it gives a lot of shadow, but when it has rained it basically keeps on raining from the trees.Only free wifi is available, which was horrible. Wouldn't connect most of the time and when it did you got nothing from it.The camping spots were all pretty cramped, most campers had everything just fit with their car barely fitting on.
