Latest reviews for AIROTEL L'OCÉAN CAMPING & SPA
Great hopes, bit of a let down. We chose this location specifically because of the pool, thinking if the weather isn’t great at least there is an indoor bit. But we only realised on arrival that the pool is only open the afternoons, so on rainy mornings we were a bit stuck. We were also not made aware that the outdoor pool wasn’t open until July, so for our June trip we only had access to half the pool that was advertised. My husband was looking forward to the gym, but on arrival we realised it was only open for 1 hour a day!!!! During the time when we would normally get up and have breakfast, so completely useless. The advertised playground looked huge in the pictures but in reality was quite small. And the mobile home was so damp, our bedsheets felt moist the whole time we were there, it wasn’t exactly pleasant. The pillows were also a weird plastic type full of air that felt hard once lying on them. Pretty uncomfortable. It is however really close to the beach, so that was nice. But overall we felt a bit conned by the place. We will not be going back.
Just back from a week at this campsite.Location to the beach/town is great. We rented bikes from the campsite (€50 each for 5 days) which meant we could get into town in 5 minutes or its about a 15/20 minutes walk. Lots of lovely restaurants to chose from while watching the sunset. We only ate at the campsite restaurant once but found the food be good - pizzas/burgers/salads etc (we were 6 families altogether - all enjoyed the food).Great access to cycle trails - it's possible to cycle to the nearby lake which has a splash park & other boating/paddleboarding activities. The indoor pool area is great for kids but doesn't open until 1.30pm in June and unfortunately we didnt realise that the outdoor pool isn't open at all in June which meant having to find other activities for the mornings. There's lots of places nearby for horseriding treks, the 3 bandits for paintball/later tag/lots of other activities, and an aerial adventure centre. There is a gym in the pool area but it only opened for 1 hour a day 9-10am.The spa consists of 2 steam rooms and a sauna. Probably wouldn't spend any more than 45 minutes there. We didn't have any treatments so can't comment on that service. There's a small games room near reception (pool tables/air hockey/foosball), the tennis courts/table tennis area is basic but adequate. We stayed in a midpriced cabin which was as advertised. Not all cabins have blackout shutters so its worth checking out when picking a cabin.Staff lovely and helpful. Onsite shop has all the basics and reasonably priced. There's also 2 supermarkets in town and a huge 'Super U' supermarket 10 minutes drive away.Overall we liked the campsite but would not go again out of season due to the pool options
The staff was awesome. That is perhaps the best thing about this place, as they were very nice and helpful. We had a few issues that come with full time living in a Van and the staff provided creative solutions. The location is also terrific. The facility was OK, however the showers desperately need maintenance. You can literally shake the whole construction behind the showerhead and expose pipes whilst pressing the button for the water. Some showers provided only cold water. The most frustrating for me was the fact that the place charges ror WiFi. We've paid less in other places and had WiFi included.
Lovely location. Friendly helpful staff who swapped our pitch on arrival with no issues. Showers and toilets always clean. Only down side was watching barman making crepes at the side of the bar and continually licking fingers whilst touching food. Fortunately we hadn’t bought any! Pretty disgusting . Other than that everything was extremely good
Spent 8 days here in July 2022. Here are the good points and the bad points;GoodLarge swimming pool.Loads of cycle tracks.Beautiful lake nearby.Reception staff were awesome.5 minute cycle to town/beach.Lots of shops and restaurants next to beach.Washing machines are available.BadToilets have no sinks, so you leave the loo and have to go around the corner to the sinks where there is NO soap and the sinks are actually for washing dishes.Chemical toilet next to couple of sinks where I saw a variety of people washing their feet, filling up water bottles and rinsing their chemical toilets out.Noise, it is really noisy. Loud speakers on most of the day with park guides holding fun games for kids. It's VERY loud music on most of the day. Discos with thumping music on until 1130pm each night.People are coming and going all through the night.Really, really dusty, we had researched and expected a sandy surface, not at all, stones, grit and dust. The pool is open to the public as well as residents. At times, it was so busy it was literally impossible to move.Onsite bar food was horrific, worth avoiding. The whole place is run on teenage labour, they clean the toilets serve at the bar etc. Most of them couldn't care less, as with most teenagers they have much more interesting things to do.We left a day early and carried on our tour of France, suffice to say this place wasn't for us.
