Latest reviews for CAMPING CAMPÉOLE MÉDOC PLAGE
Lovely location, close to the beach. Small town with lovely market nearby. Slides are fab, heated pool, and very quiet at end of May/start of June.
My wife vacationed at this campground for the first time 45 years ago. Since then it has been a family tradition to return at regular intervals - last time 5 years ago (because of Corona). We had booked months in advance - unfortunately the site numbers from 2018 were no longer valid. By email we were promised a great spot for our 3 weeks vacation - we were not given an actual plan.Arrived on site, they assigned us a place directly in front of the toilet house (we did not want to be close to the toilet house, because it is very loud). After a complaint at the reception, we only got an other place at the side of the toilet house as an option. Toilet house was set - we were told that everything else was occupied. We stayed for a week - the whole place was half empty. There would have been great possibilities - at least in the time where we were there, to give us another great place. We had signaled our flexibility: to move around or to leave earlier. But they didn't seem interested in a solution. After a week, we told the front desk that we would be leaving almost 2 weeks earlier. Alternative place or price refunds were not offered - we have to bear the costs of the entire period. The campground is becoming more and more like a mobile home site, all looking the same (as already written in other reviews). Not pretty! We hardly recognized the place after 5 years. The beautiful trees have partly disappeared. As compensation there is* a pool with loud animation,* a reception that hardly speaks German or English and* which offers no solutions to complaints.* And less and less pitches for campers! This is not how we want to spend our precious vacation time. After now 45 years we will end our family tradition. Really a pity. From my point of view this campsite does not deserve 4 stars - and I do not recommended it!I have provided this recession to the campsite 12 days before publication - without ANY reaction!
We stayed here for a week, camping. Fantastic site, lots to do. The pool area is brilliant for the kids. The camping spot was very good, but no toilet roll provided and no shelf to put your own when using the bathroom.I suggest they have a kids karaoke night, as my 9 year old was in tears when only 5 places were assigned to children on karaoke night. I was told that is 'by order of the management'. Hard to explain that to a child who loves to sing!
We liked this campsite and had a great time. Although there were a few things that I need to highlight. No toilet paper, in the toilets was a surprise. This campsite itself is great, loads going on by the pool, the fitness classes are fab, the food is nice in the bar, there was plenty of things to do on site and the cleanliness was of a high standard. However we struggled with the location, the market nearby that is on everyday is brilliant and well worth a visit. Lovely restaurants there as well and great bargains on offer. There is a lack of a big city nearby (not the fault of the campsite I must add) we didn’t have great weather and it was a struggle to find things to do off site. The ferry over to Royan, well the less said about that the better - we waited 4 hours to get a ferry on our day of departure, nearly missing our channel crossing. That said the staff are brilliant, the layout was great and we did have a wonderful holiday. We are now looking any another similar campsite for next year in L Palymere cos we really liked the company that run it 😊
We are from Ireland and this is our second time to stay here. We love it!! Interestingly we on both occasions seemed to be the only family from GB/Ireland. This is definitely a French destination and because of this we are drawn here! The staff are absolutely brilliant. Whatever they are getting paid it is not enough. My daughter will never forget the love and care the kids club girls showed to her. Thank you if you ever read this! Anyway I could write more about the super pool and all the various activities on offer but instead you can judge by yourself by the fact that we already plan to stay again in 2016.A bientot!
