CAMPING LES ÉCUREUILS

On first look this site looks great,,,pools are 1st class,Nice bar, shop onsite and a 10 min walk from the lake. However,,, we arrived in the middle of June, when we were shown to our pitch we was told they only had one available pitch left. But we seemed to be driving past some really clean grassy, inviting looking pitches so then I said are these available and then she quickly shot me down and said no!!!!. We then arrived at our pitch... it looked like a shaded pitch from hell. The grass???, well there was no grass it was weeds and full of ants , spiders and bugs. Within 2 mins of being there I had a maggot on my toes, a massive bug the size of my hand on a tree in our pitch. Never the less we were tired from travelling and thought it is what it is and got on with it. We decided to put the matt down and try and relax. We had a few drinks and went to bed, the next day we woke up to an unbelievable amount of mosquito bites, mosquitoes flying around us everywhere, my hand was swollen like it was broken, my ankles too,, they were every where, we were eaten alive so much so we stayed up at the bar and spent money we didn’t have to stay away from the pitch. We was shoved in an scabby forgotten about pitch because they wanted to save their best for holidays when they charge double. In 2 nights I had 20 bites that were really swollen and sore. Would not go back and take the risk of been put on these pitches it was also the most expensive on our trip at 30 Euro a night.

Marvelous campsite, we stayed with Carisma, and the staff are super friendly and super helpful. The onsite bar, restaurant and take away pizza has wonderful and friendly staff.

Quite easy going area. Lots of cycle tracks to shops. Lovely beaches on the lake side.

Great facilities. Good base for cycling.
