Latest reviews for CAMPING CAMPÉOLE LA CÔTE DES ROSES
Its a beautiful location with great pitches, you can have a lot off fun in the surrounding area. You do have to be prepared for a lot of sun, heat and sand flying about due to the wind coming off the sea
What a superb site. Got kids, being them here, loads to do to keep them occupied and tire them out. Water sports available and great access to the beach. This was meant to be a 2 night stay, extended to 4.
We arrived at 5:30pm. First thing we noticed was the secure gates with security. We parked the car and caravan outside the gates (big parking area). Went into reception and was greeted by friendly staff. We put in our booking that our caravan is 8m (L) x 2.4m (w)twin axle (Elddis Avante 840) + Awning. They gave us pitch 611 which was 16m x 10m with 16amp electric. Reception gave us a welcome pack which contained, Cans of drinks, toilet roll, washing up sponges and a map. Nice touch. We got to our pitch and found it clean. We had a 25m electric lead, however thankfully we also had a 10m electric cable with us. We had to join both together to get electric from the point to the caravan (but 16m pitches you would expect this). The water point was by the toilet/shower block and not at the pitch - not the end of the world. The toilet/shower blocks are unisex which we didn't realise. But surprisingly within the first day this was no longer an issue for us. The shower blocks are also very clean (we read reviews saying they weren't). They are clean. There is some sand on the floor sometimes (But its a sandy campsite next to a beach! and the sand on the floor is a few grains) We saw the cleaners in there multiple times. We will never say no to a campsite for having unisex toilets again now. On site is a takeaway, restaurant/bar and shop. All very friendly! The evening entertainment is amazing (never really enjoyed it before). The pool is a good size - But its a very large campsite. The pool could do with being bigger for the amount of people at the site. Men do have to wear speedo type trunks. (There is a decathlon down the road which sells lots of them). There are 3 life guards around the pool all day. There is a pool security guard also. A lot of people were put off by security guards but we found it all very reassuring. 24-7 security around the site ensuring everyone is safe. The playparks were absolutely brilliant for children and the kids club. A lot of effort had gone into these. There are 4 entrances from the site to the beach. However, you walk along the lagoon to the beach and the beach is also a good walk to the water. Estimated 20 minute walk from our pitch to the where we would set up on the beach. We took a wagon with us to the beach and it was easier to walk through the site and out the main gates and then take the beach entrance that way (the sand is wet). However a 30 minute up the road from the campsite is a much nicer beach with dry sand, that is also where the beach front shops, restaurants etc etc are. However the walk past the lagoon is not horrible or swampy. Its just not a few metres. I think it take 5 minutes to walk from the campsite gate to the beach along the lagoon, but an additional 5 minutes on top to walk from top of the beach down to the water. The campsite is a large site and it is a 15 minute walk from where our pitch was to the pool, shop, bar etc. We found the campsite very pleasant. The only down side to our pitch was no shade. We was there in a record heatwave and we was waking up sweating. We bought a gazebo from the Lidl (10 min drive away) but natural shade would have been better. A few pitches up from us were shaded all day long because of two large trees. There are trees throughout the campsite but some are small and don't offer much shade (Not the campsites fault). Next time we will be better prepared and we also in hindsight should have put our caravan in so it was along the pitch instead of down the pitch. Like I said, its a large site. If you don't like walking then I would recommend taking a bike. There are bike storage places all over the site. You can also hire bikes. We would go again, but we would probably take bikes. Walking everywhere in the 40 degree heat was a little bit too much (However we was there during a record heat wave).
We booked 2 chalets/mobile homes and they put us at opposite ends of the park. We tried to change it so they were closer but the receptionists said they could not change it. We had pre-requsted months in advance that the 2 be together. Extremely poor service from them. As a result one place was only used for sleeping as both families wanted to be at one location l.Accomodation was basically a glorified caravan. Showers had 2 settings, cold and scalding and alternated between the 2 without us touching the taps.Location next to the beach was the only saving grace. Any other activities were separate and off-site. Miles from the nearest town/restaurants.Avoid if you can. My advice is to pay a little more for better accomodation and facilities.
The entertainment and activities is impressive. Close proximity to a sweeping beach is also a real positive. Cleanliness of toilet blocks could be improved.
