We had a wonderful week staying in a 3 bedroom gite across the road from the main campsite.. we had a warm welcome from the owner and her son despite arriving early to check in.The house was very spacious and had a small balcony where you could sit and see the mountains in the distance.Everything was clean and in good order. We chose this place as it had a games room and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed several games of pool ( despite the quirky pool table). We also learned to play Dutch billiards and molki. The only down side was that the wifi wasn’t working at the beginning and end of our stay and when it did work it crashed out quite often.Bareges is a great location for seeing key sites in the Pyrenees. It was very quiet when we stayed as it was between seasons and two ‘jour fériés ‘ that week. You need a car and there are very limited shops in the village. The owner Marjolaine is a very kind and attentive lady. Highly recommend this place.
A perfect place for tent camping. It is a small family-owned campground that has grass tent pitches. If you love the ‘white noise’ of a river to fall asleep to, this place delivers it. The owner Marjolein is so welcoming and friendly, as is her totally huggable ‘guard dog/door greeter’. They will make you feel right at home. It has a fantastic common room which is so much appreciated when you are tenter / hiker (e.g., lounges, tables, ironing, kettle, microwave and even a pool table). It has a deck where you can enjoy the sunset over the Barèges Valley. It also has quaint timber cabins for those with a more generous budget. Only a short walk into town. This campground is the perfect place to base yourself while exploring the surrounding Pyrenees, and unlike so many others in the region, it is open in the low season. Highly recommended!
Very kind and welcoming owner. We were there a bit late but she told us that she never refuses hikers even thought the camping was almost full. The price was very good and the sanitary rooms were clean and comfortable to use. I highly recommend this place
Awesome spot. Very friendly and helpful. Has an excellent common room up the top that is great for hikers to relax in. Wonderful hiker friendly camp!
Campervanned here for 3 nights. Great location, good facilities, friendly reception at a relatively low tariff. Short walk to Baréges; fantastic for Col de Tourmalet/Pic Du Midi.
