Latest reviews for CAMPING SITES & PAYSAGES LA FORÊT
Located just outside Lourdes on the hillside. Lots of mature trees and shrubs amongst the good sized pitches. The amenities are good, clean and well maintained. Reception is also the shop and very good restaurant. You can order fresh baked products for collection the following morning here and collection of warm bread in the morning was really well organised and efficient. Not the chaos you experience on some sites! There is a play area for smaller children, a basket ball court and a lovely swimming pool with views over Lourdes.During our visit the weather was exceptionally wet - numerous locals confirmed it was not usual for early September. Two days later, the grotto and riverside areas in Lourdes were flooded as a result of the storms. During one of the torrential downpours some parts of the site were waterlogged, but good drainage meant it didn't last for more than an hour or so. The staff quickly closed off pitches that were muddy to avoid damage and cleaned the amenities block that was also muddy. We ate in the small/cozy restaurant and the food was excellent - the Plat de Pyrenees was very tasty. Service was good and the food being eaten around us also looked excellent.Walking down to Lourdes starts on a sloping track and then is on roads unless you borrow a gate pass (from reception, deposit required) that will allow you to enter the 'sanctuary' and walk along by the river. Without a pass, you will need to continue to walk along roads to the crypt and grotto area and enter the sanctuary there. The local bus pulls into the site and runs a regular service to and from the main area in Lourdes and provides a nice alternative to the 30 minute walk/hike.The only possible negative aspect of this site is the location of a shooting range in a nearby ravine. The sound of shooting can be clearly heard during the day, but the opening hours are reasonable so no noise too early or late. If you plan to spend a lot of time on the site this may disturb you, just be aware. We will return to this site next time we visit the area, lovely people and pleasant, very rural atmosphere.
Stayed in ccar some pitches were a sea of mud after storm. Not calm the weekend we were there constant rapid shooting from local shooting range all weekend plus chainsaw on and off site. Showers and toilets were impeccably clean and good bus service to centre of Lourdes.
Excellent campsite, Friendly staff, small shop. Prebook bread, restaurant, or pizza. We arrived after the bad weather had washed roads to tunnels away, the grass pitches suffered because of bad weather. If bad weather is going to be the norm, I would suggest fitting ground stabilisation plates filled with stones to help the pitches.
The mobile home looked the same in real as on the picture; all new, very clean and tidy - maybe in real even better than on the pics:) Reception very welcoming, all staff members friendly and helpful. Very nice place, silent, quiet and safe. Seating on the terrace with cup of tea I could enjoy listening birds singing and the sound of the mountain stream in the small mountain valley just behind my house. By the way, I recommend to take the walk to Lourdes along that stream rather and next in countryside area; the way which is drawn on the map at reception is maybe shorter - but along stream would be more interesting and not such narrow. Thank you to All lovely La Foret Team and all the best!
One of these rare diamonds in the jungle of campings. Super friendly staff/owners, super clean, super cosy, great food and you get a card to enter the sanctuary of Lourdes by a special door which makes it a 20min walk from the camping. The whole campsite is decorated with so much attention to detail that you have to see it for yourself. My highlight are the geese and chickens that run around freelyBook a table for dinner: the place is just super cosy and the food is great. Same for their breakfast.
