Latest reviews for CAMPING SANDAYA LES TAMARIS
Site scruffy weeds and long grass on pitch. Asked for a bus timetable and told no they don't supply them, even though the bus stop is outside gate. Entertainment and bar staff very pleasant. Bins on access to beach surrounded with dog poo bags. Fantastic location for bike rides and beach. Loved the flamingos.
Good site with good facilities and a great pool and easy access to the beach.Good sized shop on site together with restaurant and bar and a beach bar as wellThe pitches varied in size and were hard groundThe only issue was it was busy on arrival so took about 1 hour to pick a pitch and get booked in.
We've been visiting the camping ground in April, and therefore experienced a quite windy, but still warm weather. As the place has been rated with 4 as well as 5 stars, you can guess that there are some points that justify both.Caravan slots:They're mostly separated via high-grown bushes that isolate the view and give some privacy. Some may be hardly reachable with too large vehicles (+9m).Location:Very distant place, which is to be valued positively! You don't have anything in the close surrounding, yet you can reach everything easily with a car or by foot. More details in the activity section.Hygiene:I've only given three stars there as the toilets once haven't been cleaned for 2 days, after that each day. The sanitary stations are very luxurious (the renovated ones) and others still are above average. P.ex. rain showers, large cabins.Segmentation:The twisted street design adds a special flavor to the whole place. Everything is reachable without a long distance walk, even other sanitary stations.ATTENTION: The whole place is designed with One-Way-Streets, which are being ignored by some folks. Causes trouble, so pay attention to the signs.
Disappointed with pitch position 204 - had to book by phone 6wks prior to stay, paying £30 to book & told beachside pitch unavailable- Iasked operator to select the nearest to sea- on arrival asked to change pitch but told no beachside available, site full. During our stay, beachside became available on MANY occasions! We asked again but told same. Facilities all excellent, pool, restaurant, bar, entertainment- I took part in karaoke and struggled to use my phone to join in(no scanner) but on signalling the compere Valentin, he was very helpful & a good evening. All staff friendly & helpful- would have been nice for them to socialise around site promoting entertainment and generally asking our wellbeing personally (as in our visit in 2016)- but phone & Internet seems to have taken over! That's a shame as all staff so friendly & helpful when approached. The restaurant & snacks excellent.
Visited as bikepackers on the 18/07We are two girls cycling from Istanbul to Portugal. Naturally on a trip like this it is impossible to book campings in advance and we know it will come with some constraints. We arrived at Sandaya after being turned out by the other 3 campsites down the road. We had done a long day on the saddle and it was getting late. When we arrived, the receptionist explained to us that the "cyclist" pitch had just been taken and now we have to pay for a normal pitch that suits campervans etc and includes electricity (which we can't even use because we don't have the big cables required). This was 71€!!Meanwhile a German couple arrived on their bikes as well enquiring about a place. I've saw pitch number one and suggested we could share this picth as there was more than enough space for two small tents which was our case (more like space for 4 tents). This was a way of reducing the costs for us cyclists because we arrive late in the day and leave first thing in the morning and will not profit the big pool and sea that gives this place the 5 stars and makes it crazy expensive.Anke went to check if it was possible to share a pitch with her manager and we were shocked that he said it wouldn't be possible because we weren't family and could be problematic in terms of insurance! My question is, are all users of this campsite families? Can we not camp at this campsite with friends? We are adults at the end of the day and consent to camp with whoever we want. I found his attitude very corporative, very focused on profit and missing all the essence of camping!Because we were very tired and wild camping was not possible for a long long stretch we took the 71€ pitch in the end. Anke did tell us to go and see it but it was quite far and there was only two pitches left and were side by side so wouldn't make much difference. We have spent 22 days cycling across the south coast of France and the Pyrenees and this was by far, the worst pitch we've seen! By far! And let's remind ourselves we're talking about a 5 stars camping. Inclusion criteria for 5 stars does not include, for sure, quality of the pitches and shade. It was just sand and zero shade! Also, must pay so much on top of what you've already pay for WiFi!I can't comment on the pool because I never used it. The beach is ok for this part of the Mediterranean, nothing special. The showers and toilets were spacious and cool. We could only find one sheltered communal picnic table.Anke, the receptionist, was really kind to us! She showed compassion and tried to make the situation a bit lighter. Our neighbours were nice and kind too and that made up for the awfulness of this place.
