Latest reviews for CAMPING L'AIR MARIN
We've just come from a similar campsite called Domaine de Soleil Plage on the Dordogne where we've been spoilt so perhaps we were expecting too much ?First impressions. Very friendly and helpful reception. The pitches don't have a huge amount of privacy and are on the small side. Like a can of sardines. But have a good amount of shade. Not many Brits on this site might be a problem for some but not for us.Walking round the site can best be described as rustic and a little unkept. Staff are friendly though. Lovely restaurant and cafe. Good, reasonably priced food and drink. Good clean pool. Free access to the Gym and free to borrow canoes for the Canal du Midi. But don't fall in - it's yuk. Entertainment is full on for kids of all ages with the music stopping at midnight. Some noisy teens in the middle of the night. Toilets and Showers clean. Chemical waste disposal but no grey waste. Water taps dotted around the site.Worth mentioning the hard as nails policy on budgie smugglers. Tight figure hugging shorts or swim trunks for men. If you wear shorts then you won't be allowed in the pool. No exceptions. The Vias Plage beach is 1.75 miles away. Easy to find and access en route is the town of Vias. With a supermarket, lots of traditional and new shops, places to eat. Slightly cosmopolitan. Then at the end of the dead straight high street is the promenade and beautiful beach. In a nutshell. Would suit many but as said at the beginning we're comparing with Soleil Plage and in that respect we'll not be coming back here next year.
A lovely campsite but in the wrong location. Access to nearby beaches is 800 metres away. Shops in Vias and Vias Plage both good. Lovely market in Vias on Wednesday's. BUT. The site is next to the Canal du Midi and is plagued by mozzies. The worst kind of mozzies, small but with a bite that lingers for days. We killed dozens. Nobody sits outside after 1900. Not recommended.
Travelled with 2 other families, (camping) and was reassured on multiple occasions before our trip that our pitches would be next to each other, however when we arrived this was not the case. We were not even in the same row or section. They did try to move us around to get closer, but still didn’t work. This was very disappointing.Security guard (man at front gate) was VERY rude to us, we were confused about the rubbish and recycling. He shouted and physically started snatching bags off us to rip them open rather than helping us.We didn’t find out about the site ‘app’ until 2 days before we left from a French neighbour which meant we missed some of the entertainment. It would have made sense to be told about the app on our arrival as the board outside reception does not display up to date information and so we missed the foam party that the children were keen to attend. The pool was VERY busy. You have to be quick to grab sunbeds. The use of an air raid siren ensured unattended sunbeds were reallocated during busy times.Facilities are old and in need of an update.Only one sink for hand washing in unisex toilets, right next to urinals. No hand washing facilities in poolside toilets which is interesting considering the ‘high’ standards for hygiene making men wear Speedo’s. Children’s pool was dirty.Had to sneak water in for children to drink by the pool in hot weather. In summary…..holiday was saved by amazing company and good location. Vias Plage only 15 min walk and lovely. Would return to the area, but not this campsite. (2.5 stars out of 5)
Friendly campsite with large pitches. Spent a pleasant week in one of their mobile homes.
We camped here for a couple of weeks in July with a huge tent and gazebo. Had a really enjoyable time, and the kids loved the pool. Shop was reasonably priced and stocking basic goods - bakery was excellent. The night entertainment was very good and did not continue late so noise wasn't a problem. Toilets were average and could benefit from more frequent cleaning due to some filthy patrons, though this didn't spoil things for us. There is a 'no eating and drinking' rule around the pool - I think this is because the entire sun-lounging area has drains, which travel back to the pool for water conservation reasons. This means any spilt drinks would go to the pool, too, causing a hygiene problem, and hence the rule. The 6 amp hook up limitation is worth knowing about, which means you can't bring an appliance rated more than 1.3 kW - this didn't cause us any issues, though an electric BBQ may be a problem. We used a gas BBQ, so no worries. I was roaming on UK Vodafone, my partner on EE - we travel to EU regularly and never have network / data issues. However, at Vias and the camping site there is barely any mobile data available during the day. Outside the area it seems ok and almost like data is throttled especially for roaming tourists. We had to buy the expensive wifi in the end. There were a few mosquitoes about, but nothing excessive and not a problem as we had a secure tent with good fly screens. The on-site restaurant was really nice and served great drinks. Overall, this is a fantastic camping site, and we would visit again. The kids loved it.
