Latest reviews for CAMPING L'EAU VIVE
Very nice small campsite with direct access to the river it also has a nice small pool and bar.The lovely village of Carennac is only a fifteen minute walk away
Located in a beautiful part of France on the bank of the Dordogne River. The site offers fair sized camping pitches with adequate to basic toilet and washing facilities. The bar and restaurant offer a limited service. The staff appear to be two young helpers supervised by an older lady working long hours every day. We decided to stay an extra night and when we departed the young assistant informed us he was unable to use the credit card machine and asked my wife to leave her card details. When we got home we found that the company had overcharged us by 64 Euros and despite our best endeavours they have not responded to our request for a refund. This leaves a bitter taste after what was a lovely summer holiday and forces me to write negative feedback.
The village of carennac is beautiful-beyond belief. The Dordogne river offers a fantastic playground for paddling, swimming and canoeing. The campsite offers reasonably sized pitches and the services are functional but....No toilet paper provided in toilets, no toilet seats on the toilets... This was a little disappointing.... The sight of lines of people making their way to the toilets in the morning with various guises of toilet paper in had was almost comical. We didn't feel the campsite was dirty (as per other reviews) but it is certainly "dated" and in need of renovation. One Lady seems to do everything. She is working from morning to night and literally takes car of everything. She must be exhausted. She is assisted by two younger employees who take care of activities and bar service. The two younger employees were very nice and extremely helpful (they may not have been so exhausted). Food and drink are adequate and reasonably priced. However, we did not feel very welcome. We had few requests for service but when we did, our requests were denied or rejected. We were shocked when we asked if we could use our own kayaks in the river and pay to use the shuttle bus to relocate us between sites. We were told we had to use their kayaks in order to use the bus, despite the fact that we were willing to pay.We had a great time. We really enjoyed the river, the kayaking and the beauty of Carennac but as we felt like intruders, my kids have vowed never to return. Personally, I would probably return and I am definitely convinced that if visitors were made to feel more welcome, some of the negative reviews would be less scathing.
Good value for money. Nice quiet camping with access to the Dordogne. A few things to consider: the owner and his wife don't speak a word of English, the mobilhomes aren't cleaned properly and it can be smelly at times (like an open drain...)
Not well marked at the entrance. Nice swimming pool, a park for small kids, and inflatable mattress for older kids. Ping pong tables and pétanque field. The camping cars are large and sufficient for a family of 6 or you can put your own tent if you like. Dogs are accepted for a small fee. Restaurants or supermarkets are in a range of 4-6 km. Canoë can be done close by. Fishing also if you wish.
