Latest reviews for CHALETS HUTTOPIA FONT-ROMEU
We just spent a week at this awesome camping. Especially the service was great, they want above and beyond to help us. We last minute wanted to move our stay with one day and that was absolutely no problem. When we realized the electricity box was quite far from our pitch and we did not have any extension cables, they immediately provided us with two cables free of charge. Finally when it turned out we underestimated the cold nights (even mid summer) they provided us with two blankets to keep us warm in our tent. Thanks for everything!
This is our second stay with Huttopia. Last year we stayed on the Tarn Gorge and when we planned our trip around the Pyrenees this year we chose Huttopia because we loved it so much last time. Lovely facilities, feels like you’re staying in nature but looked after too. The site always seems well placed too, a little walk or small drive to the nearest town or village. We will definitely be visiting Huttopia again.
These past few weeks we have visited several camp sites. And to be honest Huttopia Font Romeu was not up to standard. The location is great. Beautiful nature, lots of activities in and around Font Romeu (hiking, mtb, etc). Nice restaurants. The campsite itself is also beautiful, more than enough showers and toilets. Swimming pool is also nice - not enough beds though. Possibility to rent a fridge is a plus.However,- cleaning / hygiene of showers and toilets is FAR BELOW standard and quite frankly NOT ACCEPTABLE. We observed the cleaning was performed at 7am in less than 40 min whilst a proper cleaning would require at least 2 hrs. Toothpaste stains, mud, hair remain for days.- same appears for knowledge of staff. They do their best to help. For every question they refer you to the tourist office. At arrival you receive a place number and that’s it. We asked for hiking maps. We were told they don’t provide any anymore “because guests take them” (ehhh - yes of course…).- staff at the pizzeria seems to lack any form of structure in the ways of working. Pizzas are ok-ish (way too much cheese to our liking). Kitchen staff works with long hair hanging loose. We observed a staff member on 2 different occasions repeatedly coughing in his hand and putting his long hair behind his ear and then touching the pizza (hygiene, training!).
You pay more for less in the restaurant and for breakfast. The baguette 🥖 is half size, the pizza is a joke open the box and its half size
Lovely campsite with great facilities and all very clean. Not too busy as June, so wouldn't know at high season but all the pitches are nicely spread out so you are not on top of each other. the views, the tall alpine trees, the rocks and setting. Amazing
