Latest reviews for CASTEL CAMPING CHATEAU DE CHANTELOUP
The most amazing campsite I’ve been to in a long time. Beautiful grounds and surroundings, lovey large pitches on the edge of the field overlooking the chateau. Very very friendly staff who could not have been more helpful. Amazing cheap croissants etc brought by the baker herself (€6 for 2 croissants, 2 pain au chocolates and a large baguette). Very cute resident dog. Excellent facilities, good pool and sun beds, shower cubicles in a real barn with a vaulted ceiling to look up at. Brilliant bar on the terrace (big screen which we watched the Euros on) and a wonderful games room in the Chateau itself with pool, table football and chess. Only concern would be that the toilet blocks are a little far from the pitches on the edge of the campsite for old people, but we were a young couple so had no problem with this.
Amazing campsite, so much space and really beautiful! Dutch reception lady was super friendly as well. Restaurant was terrible I have to say (felt the staff was super cranky especially the guy who is managing the place?, no atmosphere, not welcoming, food not so good), we regretted going for dinner cause the campsite itself is amazing! So Chanteloup :) I would change this for next season if you want my opinion, it does leave a weird impression (restaurant) for such an amazing warm and beautiful camping (mismatch)
Lovely site. Well maintained. Clean amenities. Wood walks. Not far from large Super U. The staff are really friendly and so helpful. For those who don’t speak French, the reception staff speak excellent English. There is a restaurant and small shop on site. There is also a swimming pool and although it’s not large it is perfectly adequate. It has a child’s pool too. I would recommend this site for the location as it is close to Le Mans and the old quarter and cathedral are well worth a visit.
What a great campsite! Spacious pitches and plenty of open areas to relax. The pitches adjacent to the building are set out around the perimeter of the field, providing a big central area in which to socialise. One night, the staff lit and provided communal barbeques, tables and seating - just bring your own food to cook! This really does promote everyone getting together. There is a bar, with drinks able to be taken either on to the patio or lawn area. Inside the main building there are a couple of rooms, one with a pool table and the other with plenty of seating for playing board games or somewhere to read. Another building has the restaurant and takeaway. This is fairly basic food (pizzas, hamburgers, etc), but done very well. The toilet and shower blocks are centrally located and therefore can be a long walk. However, they are well maintained and never seemed overly busy. There is a fishing lake, which seemed to be popular. The swimming pool was surrounded by a grass area with chairs and loungers. Perfect for reading your book! The site is well located for a trip to the race circuit and city. It is definitely worth a stay and not just a stopover as you pass through.
Campsite is lovely. Bar is great. Max was very accommodating. However, the restaurant is awful! Do not waste your time or money eating here. Restaurant is worth 1 star at most. Otherwise, would have given the campsite 5 stars.
