Latest reviews for CAMPING L'OCÉANO D'OR
Spent 3 weeks there this summer. It's a big site, fairly noisy in the evenings however generally a nice atmosphere. Lots of pitches crammed in. Jard sur Mer is nice and walking distance. The main negative that has put us off returning next year is they cater for large groups of young people (predominantly males of drinking age) which does not suit a family campsite. We had to endure a young drunk up on stage making a fool of himself but worse still, hitting a female companion in the middle of the dance floor in full view of young children whilst the bar staff did nothing. The pool is unsafe for children. Young males (20+) run amok, doing back flips into crowded pools, silly antics on the slides (see who can get down fastest irrespective of who is in the pool at the bottom), whilst pool "staff" do absolutely nothing. The female pool staff member was thrown in twice whilst we were there, the second time she seemed to be encouraging the attention. I'm afraid having someone in a fish suit entertaining young kids for 30 mins does not make it family friendly. The campsite really needs to get on top of this. The policy on groups needs to change and staff need to be trained properly.
We have been here many times in our caravan and have become friend with many French mobile home residents . It is clean , convenient to the town and beach. The staff are always friendly and helpful . We have recommended the site to many people of different nationalities and they have all enjoyed their stay.
The place is well maintained, but when we visited it was the end of June, the start of July and there was no night entertainment for adults or children. The population at the time seemed all older retired people. But we felt security was a big issue especially with young children. There was a pedestrian back gate which anyone could access by putting your hand through the bars and pressing a button and on one particular night we returned to the camp site to find the front barriers opened, reception closed and no security guard. We also had an issue when our car would not start, it was just a flat battery and the guy on reception told us there is a garage up the road and if we start walking now we'll make it before they close. Even though there was one of their work vehicles on site. The whole place closes down at 1:30 until 4:30/5:00, all the shops in the town and the shop on site. It does have a take away but no restaurant.
Campsite is great nice and clean and the kid's had a great time in the pool. Walking distance to the beach and town. The only thing was the on-site take away way was really over priced and food in it was not nice at all our burgers were under cooked and pizza was terrible and tasted like cardboard. Very small portions also. Better off going into the town.
Great site stayed here twice. First time with eurocamp which was excellent. The second time we stayed with rent a tent which was very unwelcoming. Rent a tent took 100 euro cash deposit from us on arrival which we were told nothing about. This was to ensure everything was cleaned including washing windows and mopping floors before we left. When we were leaving the rep inspected everything counted knives and forks, unstacked chairs and inspected them etc etc , insisted that we wait off the balcony while this inspection was happening. After 10 min got the all clear and 100 euro deposit back. Mobile was completely shaded with permanent awning on one side and large tree on other side. No sun on the balcony all day (might suit family with young kids) but didn't suit us.Site itself is brilliant very friendly and village only 600mts away. Great pool and pizzeria on site. Large supermarket also only 400mts away. Well worth a visit
