Latest reviews for CAMPING LE TROPICANA
Just to say the pool was the highlight of the visit the slides are great and they never got too busy vut you cant give 5 stars for the pool alone. We have been to several campsites across France all of which have been 5 star. However Tropicana is not a 5 star campsite in my opinion it is missing some essential features. I do understand its a small campsite and therefore restricted so with that in mind I have given my experienceThe biggest and most worrying aspect is the lack of lifeguards by the pool during our stay (a week) a lifeguard was either not present at all or only present for a few hours and when they were there it was just one lifeguards watching over pools. This is obviously a concern and one to consider especially as most pools are deep and there are 2 big slides.A lack of a campsite shop/supermarket regardless of what it said about one being 500m away we reverted to using the shop from the campsite across the road. All of the 5 star campsites we have visited have had a supermarket and in some cases a bakery. All 5 star campsites we have been too have an animation team that are onsite and interact with guests throughout the day (games, activities etc.) However I get the impression this campsite can not facilitate this which is disappointing. It doesn't provide the same evening entertainment that other 5 star campsites do so consider that before booking. Our cabin was a disappointment some small things could make it so much better. The curtains do nothing in terms on blocking sunlight most campsites have shutter blinds or blackout blinds and this would make it so much better especially for parents with young kids taking naps during the dayI know this is a picky one but randomly there's no toaster; kettle or basic knives (only sharp steak knives). There is a lack of privacy between sites they are very close together with nowhere for kids to play outside expect on the road and we could barely fit our car beside the cabin we had to squeeze it between a hedge and the cabin. It does feel like some of the sites are crowded. We could see our neighbours as soon as we stepped outside our cabin, having shrubbery to provide privacy would be a nice added touch. Our kitchen window backed onto our neighbours porch and if you reached out you could touch it.Also this campsite backs onto another campsite so you have the noise from both campsites to considerI feel there is a lack of polish to the place and compared to all the other 5 star sites we've been too it really lacks. I wonder if the feedback from guests could be applied to improve the overall experience as some of my points seem to be similar to other guests and it would be a shame to waste such feedback. We won't be back Tropicana because of these reasons and will go back to the 5 star campsites we are used toI am sure my feedback will be treated with respect and not met with hostility and defensiveness by the campsite team.
Love the Vendee. Le Camping Tropicana is situated a little away from the beach, probably 10 minutes walk. The pools on site are superb, and it's great fun on the slides. Small bar and restaurant on site really friendly. Reception staff are great, really helpful. The site is kept exceptionally clean, could not fault it. The pool area is spotless. Our second time here, first time in a motorhome, and the pitches look like they've been improved, better water supply. This time, we opted to drive down from Cherbourg and stay in their accommodation, quite small, but very clean and had everything we could of asked for.Superb weather made the stay even better.Thank you Tropicana, until the next time 👍Would recommend and return.
camping looked good. pool was very nice with the different slides. The only downside is that the animation team did not speak English which was stated on the various booking websites. we also received no practical information on arrival such as opening times of the swimming pool, restaurant or reception or how to order bread. There was no camping shop available.
Great camping, animation great for kids. Good pool area and nice bar to hang out. Only real thing missing is small camping shop for last minute items. Towel droppers beware - camping team regularly removes towels from sun beds that are not claimed on request. Great exercise
We have just returned from a lovely holiday at Camping is Tropicana. The pitches are set out so that English guests are together and French guests are together, regardless of pitch size. We struggled to get set up on the pitch we had, so could only put part of our tent up, and then we're surprised to see massive pitches with 3 man tents or pop up one man tents on. We were quite central to all the facilities, so we were really pleased about that. I was a bit miffed at the mixed sex toilets in the nearest toilet block, so tended to use the single sex toilet block, especially if my found daughter needed the loo, as I didn't feel comfortable her walking lPassed the men's urinals, or for her to be in a toilet block with men she doesn't know. Saying that, I think the French must have a liberal approach to toilet usage, because they still used the opposite sex toilets and showers. The access to the beach isn't direct, and even though there is a short cut, you still have to walk through town to get to the beach. All this being said, the site was clean and the staff friendly, it's a shame that the French guests don't respect the 11pm cerfew on noise, the site didn't go quiet until around 1.30am and 2am.It sounds like I have quite a lot to moan about, but we did really enjoy our stay, and would like to return in the future x
