Latest reviews for CAMPING DU LION
Nice camping spot with a swimming pool. The staff is nice but a bit uptight when it comes to rules ( like wearing tight swimsuits to go in the pool). The bar is nice and serves special cocktails. The events tend to be a bit loud but the staff kindly gave us camping spots far away from the animations because we were doing the via Rhona. Overall great experience
The camping is run by a lovely family that makes sure you have a good and well arranged time at the camping. The restaurant on the camping is a place on its own, with great varieties of food. There are a lot of activities that are very amusing and fun to do, and a bar with the best staff and the best cocktails. The camping lays in one of the most beautiful areas I’ve ever been to in France, with so much to see. My experience on this camping was like the area it was in: “paradise”!
It’s after 11 pm and the Music from the bar ist very very loud.We have been on many campgrounds but never experienced music loud and late like this initiated by the campground itself. For someone who wants to spent a calm night after a long day of biking, this camping is not to recommend. It’s also quiet expensive compared to other campgrounds and the accueil was not very friendly. To be fair I have to say the campground itself is quiet nice with big shady places. There is a pool and quiet clean showers and toilets.
No human decency. At midday on a scorching August day while cycling the ViaRhona I stopped at this camping to ask for water. I presented my empty bottle and i was told it would cost me 1 euro. I told them I didn't need a new bottle, just a refill with tap water. They repeated it would cost me 1 euro. At that point I was so confused that I asked them to confirm if they were planning on charging me for one litre of tap water. They confirmed it, before one of the owners vaguely mentioned there was a fountain a few hundred meters away.20min later i asked a homeowner busy with chores by the Riverside if he could give me some water and he dropped everything to assist me.I've only been charged for tap water before in places where there's an obvious rationing... Such as Africa. Not in a expensive camping by one of the most abundant rivers in Europe. When available from a tap, water is always free wherever you go. And even if that's not the case, you will be hard-pressed to find a human being refusing to give water to another without it becoming a commercial transaction. The place looks nice and convenient, but the lack of human decency is appalling. Seeing how French law stipulates tap water is free, they are breaking the law as well. I've contacted the pertinent authorities to inform them, as well as emailing the ViaRhona authorities to inform them that an associated and promoted establishment by them treats cyclists in such a way.I hope neither you or your loved ones ever find yourself in a situation like this. And if you do, I am sure the person in front of you will provide you water for free. They are a human being after all.
This is not a 3 star camp ground. There was a wedding reception taking place on the grounds and a DJ was blasting music well after 1am. I was not warned of this ahead of time and it made me very frustrated.Equally bad is the mosquitoes. If you stand still for 30 seconds you will be eatin alive.Small complaint Bathrooms were very far away and the showers changed temperature wildly. There are many other camp grounds in the area you should check them out instead
