CAMPING LE ROCHAT

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This campsite is a con - do not go here.We drove from England to this site, and paid in full on Pitchup.We arrived to a flooded site. They offered us a temporary space (on the road) until it dried out. However the site was supposed to flood that night, too, so chances are we’d be in the temporary space for a while. We couldn’t erect our awning. We felt like this wasn’t what we paid for, and wanted to leave the next day. They said we’d have to get a refund through PitchUp.We visited the bathroom, and realised this place was a total sham. The toilets were disgusting, absolutely revolting, and there was no loo roll.We decided to leave, and saw on Pitchup we needed to get the refund directly from the site.We asked for this, they refused, and said it was their policy. My partner asked to speak to the boss on the phone, and he pretended he couldn’t speak English. Complete coward.After being lied to multiple times, with disgusting facilities, and unavailable booking, we raised a fraud charge with the bank which was honoured.I couldn’t recommend this site to my worst enemy. Do not go here!!

This campsite is well situated for a walk into Chateauroux, which is a lovely town and full of charm. It's also a great stop off if travelling to and from the Alps. There is a free Aire just outside the campsite that may suit some, but you won't be able to use the campsite facilities, as they have very good security systems in place, such as gates that are locked, and an ingenious bracelet that operates the showers through some sort of wizardry well beyond me. I'd recommend a visit, although in winter it's a bit wet underfoot and the chemical waste point was out of service. Hopefully that will soon be reconnected. The staff were very helpful and spoke perfect English. Also, If you don't want to walk into town, there's a free local bus service.

A beautifully maintained campsite. Excellent location on the banks of a slow flowing river.

Unfortunately we has to cancel ahead of our holiday here. We paid cancellation insurance. The process was painfully slow required many emails and phonecalls to get anywhere. Finally we recieved only £11 of our £42 spent (we hadnt paid out full amount yet and im glad for that) so basically be absolutely sure you are going to be able to make it to the site as getting your refund is a very bad joke. Fraudulent company avoid at all cost. Sad really i assume the people who work at the campsite are probably very good but i will never know.

Good camp site. Good sized pitches. Toilets and showers dated but kept very clean. Close to a lake with a bar/restaurant that is noisy until late. Not under the control of the camp site. Used as a two day rest. Would go back.
