Latest reviews for CAMPING MUNICIPAL GASTON MARCHAND
The site at it self is oké, a bit narrow. Green under beautiful plane trees. The toilets could be kept a little better clean. The manager is very friendly. Please note that the opening times they are closed between 10am and 3.30pm. A good start to cycle along the Loire.
Every common area(toilets, sinks and washing cabins) were extremely filthy - filled with bugs, spiders, creepy crawlies, etc.. Also the camping plots were very uneven and bumpy, which made sleeping in tents also quite uncomfortable. I wouldn't even hate it that much, but the toilets during night time were something straight out of a horror movie. I would not recommend staying there under any circumstances.
Staff were very, very helpful. Due to issues with SNCF we had to arrive later than the advertised latest check-in time of 8, however staff waited for us which was useful.Quick cycle ride from Orleans, and has some restaurants just up the road. All campsites are nicely shaded by the delightful rows of trees, very welcome in the summer months! Many reviews criticise this campsite for a "smell of sewage", however this is just a hint of sulphur in the air. It is not very noticeable and varies at different times of year. It is naturally occurring from the Loire river next door.Toilets are easily accessible (have toilet paper), and are a short walk from from all campsites. The showers were very clean and had perfect temperature and water flow.A communal area is provided near the office, with a freezer, books and power, however be aware this closes at certain times of the day so be careful leaving stuff in the freezer.Price was very cheap, and was much less than other campsites. To sum up, this was an extreme positive experience and fully deserves a 5 star review.
Good place to stay with a camper for a night (maybe two if you're looking to explore Orleans). Places are in the shade, which is nice. River left a smell when we were there, but nothing too bad. Sanitary could have been cleaned more thoroughly, but were still good enough to use.
Nice staff, cheap, shady, clean, bike lockup, close to city by bike, next to the river so lots of spiders 😀, hot showers, bike track runs right past, small camp next to municipal children's play area. Good WiFi which is rare. Great 👍
