Latest reviews for CAMPING DE LA RIVIERE
The people living in the beautiful village of Exideuil-sur-Vienne must feel very let down by having this dump of a campsite so close to their homes. We have been camping in France for over 25 years and we can honestly say this is the worst campsite we have ever stayed in.First we were totally unaware that this campsite and the restaurant only took cash. Fortunately we managed to scrape up the cash except for a couple of Euros which the co-owner Rianne waived. I asked her why she didn't take cards, and she stated it wasn't worth it and it was on their website. I have since looked and found it on the very bottom of its Rates page. Not on Google or on their board outside the campsite (shown). The sanitaire is antiquated and filthy, with only tepid water available for showering and washing up. The disgusting facility for disabled guests is shown in a couple of photos. The laundry facilities outside the sanitaire are also shown. The pitch electric box was in a filthy state with a broken connector and is also shown.I will give another review for the campsite restaurant, however the food was of a very low standard. My wife's fish was clearly out of a packet and my rump steak was the toughest I have ever experienced. To add insult to injury, the steak came with a gluteness blob they had been heated in a glass in a microwave and this brown gunge was supposed to be a pepper sauce! The wine was just ok as was the water.I couldn't help noticing that the poor reviews on Google for this campsite, all receive a vehement response from the owners. All denying any responsibility for anything that was wrong and putting the blame straight back to the customers who wrote the bad reviews. With this in mind, I fully expect a similar response for this review. So when they do, can they please provide an answer to the following questions.1. On your website, which barely describes or shows photos of our own experience, why are there no photos of the sanitaire, laundry, washing up and disabled facilities?2. Why is the fact that you don't take card payments made in a more clear position on your website and also shown on your Google entry and on the board at the campsite entrance?3. On your website you show five 5 Star reviews, supposedly given by you satisfied customers. Why is it that these hopefully unsolicited 5 Star reviews are all dated June 1st 2021? Isn't that a bit of a coincidence that all five of these satisfied customers all gave a 5 Star review on the same day?!?
Wow this is a great place, I have been a few times now while visiting my wife's parents who don't live to far away, kids go playing while we have a drink and easy to keep a eye on in them, always a lot of campers, karaoke with Christoph, singers, food fantastic and the staff do a great job and work hard. I see some boats that have been made into rooms, to rent, great idea and would love to stay in one one day. Every year this place gets better. Well done !!
I spent a fabulous evening here, last night. Live nearby, so didn’t stay, but had a lovely meal and danced the night away to the live music. The patron, his wife and staff are wonderfully hospitable, the ambience lovely, and the setting beautiful. Thank you!
Went for an evening drink and meal.Very convenient as the bar and restaurant are open in the evenings and weekends when a lot of other places are closed. The restaurant was quite busy on a Saturday night, however service was fast and welcoming.Good straightforward menu with very reasonable prices. If you are local (Roumazieres, Chabanais etc) well worth a visit.Only open during the summer season May until the (end?) of September.Cash only.
Nice place, beautiful environment, kind employees, I would come back for more days at this camping site. Strongly recommended. Next to nature and a beautiful river. The food is amazing, the owner is kind and helpful, it was perfect I felt very welcomed!
